Pricing can be a tricky subject to get right. Too high, and you won’t get very many customers. Too low, and you’ll hardly profit off the ones you have.
There’s more to it than just the price tag you put on your product though. There are ways to increase the value perception people have of your product as well, helping you sell high quantities without cutting the price so much. Pricing is tough – I know I say that a lot. When you’re pricing WordPress extensions or addons (dependent products), it’s even harder.
No, I’m not going to suggest a perfect plan for the pricing of your plugins. But I do want to highlight some challenges that some of my friends have been having when it comes to pricing their plugins (and/or extensions).
I’m also not going to suggest you game pricing by putting a fake MSRP of $2,000 next to your list price.
What I want to do is highlight a challenge that comes from selling dependent products.
