ability to show off your skill and the value that you deliver is a skill. &nbsp;<em>Developing this ability only makes you more valuable (and makes you more in building a skill you can&#8217;t find work for!<\/strong><\/em><\/li><li><strong>You should enjoy the skill<\/strong> enough to be willing to dedicate hours to improving it. &nbsp;Hours of deliberate practice is the only way you&#8217;ll get good enough to eventually earn over $100\/hr.<\/li><li><strong>Some skills are inherently more valuable than others.<\/strong>&nbsp; For example, programming is often more valuable than writing. &nbsp;This doesn&#8217;t mean one skill is better than another, just that some skills make it easier to earn more money.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-d69cb893-ecd1-4765-90aa-b4ca8170037a\">How to Develop Your Money-Making Skills<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex Invest in getting great at something then the passion will come.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"380\" height=\"564\" src=\"https:\/\/profitpress.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/make-money-online-guidelines-380x564.png\" alt=\"Make Money Online Guidelines\" class=\"wp-image-4813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profitpress.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/make-money-online-guidelines-380x564.png 380w, https:\/\/profitpress.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/make-money-online-guidelines.png 596w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-136fac27-2234-42c1-8c66-38e128e85833\">Choose Skills that You Can Improve<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your work must require valuable skills that you can<em>&nbsp;invest in continuously improving.&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;This is especially true if you don&#8217;t already have valuable skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bad example would be a store clerk. &nbsp;<em>How different is the best checkout clerk from the worst?<\/em> &nbsp;Could the best clerk earn <strong>10x<\/strong> as much as the worst clerk even if they specialized in hardware or groceries?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, because <strong>1)<\/strong> <em>the skills aren&#8217;t valuable<\/em> and <strong>2)<\/strong> <em>the skills can&#8217;t be dramatically improved.<\/em> &nbsp;Just about anyone could be a decent clerk after a couple weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pick a line of work where it means something to be good and those who excel are <em>well compensated.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-5c1aa2c3-8966-4bf2-bb14-f6976a2a8f11\">Choose Skills that the World Values<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You need work that the world values, so you can get paid well for it. &nbsp;<em><strong>Being great doesn\u2019t matter if nobody will pay you for it.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back to our last example, you could be the best store clerk in the world, but how much is someone willing to pay you? &nbsp;If the answer is &#8220;not much&#8221; then you need to <em><strong>choose more valuable work.<\/strong><\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-0ed40699-03eb-4a90-aeb0-806f731ad5b4\">Choose Skills that Don\u2019t Require Luck or Getting Picked<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You need work that doesn&#8217;t require getting &#8220;picked&#8221; (e.g. pop singer, NBA, etc.). &nbsp;You want working hard and achieving excellence to lead to guaranteed success. &nbsp;<em>You want work where you\u2019re in control<\/em>&nbsp;and don\u2019t have to rely on luck or being discovered. &nbsp;<em><strong>You want to be in control of your life, not leave it to chance.<\/strong><\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-af2b4d3e-fc36-4dee-92bb-4e6bcaf9f113\">Don&#8217;t Chase Trends<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Be wary of trends.<\/strong><\/em> &nbsp;If you pick a skill or specialty that&#8217;s trendy, <em>think twice about whether it&#8217;s a smart long-term investment of your time and energy.<\/em> &nbsp;An example is cryptocurrency, which is popular right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trendiness doesn&#8217;t automatically disqualify a skill or specialty, it&#8217;s just a signal that you should <em><strong>double check to ensure it&#8217;s right for you long-term.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-42c3057f-47cc-4ad5-8495-1e82138eeca7\">Get Paid to Learn<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As soon as you&#8217;re able to get a job related to your new skill or specialty that you&#8217;re comfortable with, <strong>consider taking it.<\/strong> &nbsp;I emphasize &#8220;<em>comfortable with<\/em>&#8221; because <em>you don&#8217;t want to take a significant pay cut or make a major change that jeopardizes your financial stability.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, taking a job related to your skill or specialty will allow you to essentially <em><strong>get paid to get better.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;If you&#8217;re not ready to switch full-time jobs, then <em><strong>consider getting a side gig related to your specialty.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-8d679bdf-d01c-4891-89af-e3136f09b31b\">Do What Excites You<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to pick something that you could get excited about or even obsessed with. &nbsp;This is <em><strong>NOT<\/strong><\/em> the same as following your passion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal here is to find something you&#8217;re genuinely interested in because <em>it&#8217;ll be much easier<\/em> to invest the many hours required to become world-class. &nbsp;Remember, <em>it&#8217;s only work if you&#8217;d rather be doing something else.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-28555354-509b-4deb-bcae-5bd6d2db24bd\">Get Your Finances Under Control<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Making a lot of money won&#8217;t matter if you don&#8217;t manage it well.<\/em> &nbsp;Our goal isn&#8217;t just to <strong>make money online working from home<\/strong>, but to also <em><strong>build wealth.<\/strong><\/em> &nbsp;Building wealth takes good financial habits and practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need help with budgeting then check out You Need a Budget (YNAB) at their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youneedabudget.com\">website<\/a> or check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Qd1m9r\">YNAB book<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"advgb-toc-b5cc611c-8504-457e-bb5d-e3151d1fbc4f\">Find the &#8216;Hard Work You&#8217;re Willing to Do&#8217;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s helpful to say the same thing in different way to get it to click. Another way to frame this is to &#8220;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.uni.edu\/~wallingf\/blog\/archives\/monthly\/2018-10.html\">find the hard work that you&#8217;re willing to do.<\/a><\/em>&#8221; Here&#8217;s an excerpt from the article: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>I realize that &#8220;Find your passion&#8221; makes for a more compelling motivational poster than &#8220;What hard problems do you enjoy working on?&#8221; (and even that&#8217;s a lot better than &#8220;What kind of pain are you willing to endure?&#8221;), but it might give some people a more realistic way to approach finding their life&#8217;s work.<\/p><cite><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.uni.edu\/~wallingf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eugene Wallingford<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s no way to develop valuable skills without working hard.
